Soderbergh List 2017

Steven Soderbergh catalogued all his pop culture experiences as “Seen, Read 2015” on his blog for the entire year. It was simple and quaint review, an exercise in memory and taste exploration. I figured since it wasn’t too far into the year to give it a try. I want to know the things I experienced for a whole year.

A link to my 2015 list and my 2016 list.

I had to adjust the legend to suit my needs.

All caps, bold: MOVIE
All caps: TV SERIES OR ANIME (NUMBER DENOTES EPISODES WATCHED)
All italics: Book or Comic*
Quotation marks: “Live Performance, Event, Convention”

*For books and comics, the day it appears is the day I finished said book or comic.

As a rule, if I watch more than half or 2/3 of a movie or tv show to the end I count it as watched. I only count books/comics/manga if I read it to the end on that day. I mark cons on the day of. Any day not counted in the list is a day I didn’t do any activity related to the above mentioned.

Proceeds the year that was 2017:

iTunes Shuffle 25 (1)

I’m going to start with one song and shuffle it 25 times. I will document what songs comes up no matter what it may be, even if it’s a total “guilty pleasure”. Omitting any intro/outro speaking tracks, skits, comedy albums, xmas music, and mis-labelled BGM music I have and I have quite a bit.

Take 1…

  1. “The Old Purple Heart (9% Of Pure Heaven)” by Alabama 3
  2. “It’s OK” by Ceelo Green
  3. “Here Comes the Hotstepper” by Ini Kamoze
  4. “Keep it in a Box” by Samantha Savage
  5. “I Feel You” by Esthero and Nelly Furtado
  6. “No Time Soon” by Gnarls Barkley
  7. “Suicide Doors” by Reverend Horton Heat
  8. “Myself” by Hjaltalín
  9. “Belvidene, My” by Ween
  10. “Kids” by MGMT
  11. “(Just Like We) Breakdown” by Hot Chip
  12. “Small Deaths” by Cadence Weapon
  13. “Mutant and Proud” by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class)
  14. “C’est Pas Une Vie” by Yelle
  15. “October Song” by Amy Winehouse
  16. “Infatuation” by The Rapture
  17. “Final_Fantasy_Meets_Metal_hifi” by EROCK
  18. “Stroker Ace” by Ween
  19. “I Changed My Mind (Stereo MCs Rattlesnake remix)” by Quannum MCs
  20. “Madagascar” by Gogol Bordello
  21. “The Game of Love” by Daft Punk
  22. “Mao Tse Tung Said” by Alabama 3
  23. “Don’t Lie” by The Mantles
  24. “You’ll Have Time” by William Shatner
  25. “The Robots” by Kraftwerk

There. Session 1. So Ween and Alabama 3 came up twice in this shuffle. Does it think I need to listen to those albums more? Perhaps.

I will try and do this again sometime in the new year.
